Your Therapist—and Guide on the Path to Healing
Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty. –Albert Einstein
My name is Caroline Sabi, and I am a licensed professional counselor. I earned my bachelor’s degree in the field of psychology from UC Berkeley and my master’s degree in the field of counseling psychology from Lewis & Clark College. I provide therapy and coaching to residents of Oregon and coaching to people all over the United States.
Where Our Paths Cross
Remarkably, I knew since the age of 9 that working in the field of mental health was my calling; however, life had other plans for me. My destiny was to immigrate twice, and detour to law school in France before landing in the USA and getting my formal education in counseling psychology. All the meanderings of my life became opportunities to go deeper and deeper into the realm of the psyche and get first-hand experiences in most of the areas I am now specializing in; namely, grief and loss, depression, crisis of meaning, parenting, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, multicultural assimilation, chronic pain/illness and anxiety. I also am fluent in the languages French and Farsi. As a certified counselor, I have had the privilege of witnessing people undergo the slow, extremely subtle and remarkable journey of healing and self-transformation. This process of psychological growth is astoundingly complex, multilayered, circular and even mysteriously numinous in its unfolding.
Emotionally Focused Couple Counselor
Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) is a research validated method of helping couples resolve relationship conflicts, improve emotional communication, and increase intimacy. As an EFT therapist, I help you understand how relationships work at an emotional level where reactive emotions and negative cycles can hijack your interactions. I will support both of you and foster an environment where deeper emotions, old hurts, and important needs can be safely expressed and understood by your partner. Together, we can create new, positive ways of engaging that will strengthen your emotional bond, build resilience when coping with conflicts, and increase liveliness and spontaneity.
EFT can help couples who are:
- Trapped in escalating arguments
- Frustrated by the way they communicate
- Becoming more resentful and angry
- Feeling emotionally disconnected
- Feeling distant after the birth of a child
- Dealing with mid-life changes
- Rebuilding their relationship after an affair
- Coping with illness or depression
A Holistic Approach to Counseling
My philosophy as a therapist is primarily focused on core transformation rather than merely symptom management, and needless to say, I strongly believe in the centrality of the therapeutic relationship as a significant healing agent.
Moving towards our wholeness necessitates the courage to first move into the wounded parts that we all have as members of the human species. I call the psychotherapy that I do “healing into wholeness” because I view our wounds as the stepping stones taking us back to our wholeness through a process of integration. Therefore, there is sacredness to our wounded parts.
Your Connection to Self-Realization
I see our life as a sacred journey. It is about change, growth, discovery, movement and transformation; continuously expanding our vision of what is possible, stretching our soul, learning to see clearly and deeply, listening to our intuition and taking courageous challenges every step of the way. We are on the path, exactly where we need to be right now, and from here, we can only go forward, shaping our life into a magnificent tale of triumph, healing, courage, beauty, wisdom, power, dignity and love. It is my belief that no one can do it alone; no one should expect to do it alone. It will be my privilege and honor to walk this sacred path with you. Growth work takes courage; if you have been reading my website until this point, something in you is calling you. Together, we will find the ways to answer this call.

“While holding positive thoughts and emotions is advantageous, positive thinking itself is not "Hallmark Card thinking." It`s really an ongoing awareness that all truly is well with the world, with life, and with oneself. It`s also a commitment not to mindlessly pass on fears but to bring positive energy, images, ideas, and feelings into the lives of others, to help them attune to the wellness at the heart of the world.” David Spangler

“If you have patience, then you`ll also have love. Patience leads to love. If you forcefully open the petals of a bud, you won`t be able to enjoy its beauty and fragrance. Only when it blossoms by following its natural course, will the beauty and fragrance of a flower unfold.”

"The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream.
The oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg,
and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs.
Dreams are the seedlings of realities."

“Your life—your home, family, friends, workplace, body, abilities—is your kingdom. You have full rulership there. What can you do for your world? What or who needs tending? What needs to be added or eliminated? This is a time to look squarely at the piece of land that you are responsible for. Because all bets are off, we could feel encouraged to focus on what is really essential. Most important, we could focus on removing every obstacle that stands between us and doing our true work in the world. We need you to own your brilliance, stop pulling punches, and offer your gifts.” Susan Piver
